The Russian Federation's Ambassador to Türkiye, Alexey Yerhov, emphasized the strong interest of Russian tourists in Türkiye, stating, "We expect the number of Russian tourists visiting Türkiye to exceed 6.3 million by the end of 2024."
According to a report from Ekonomim, Russia, which sent 6.313 million tourists to Türkiye last year, maintains its leading position in Turkish destinations. Ambassador Yerhov noted that the statistics demonstrate the strong interest of Russians in Türkiye as a holiday destination. He highlighted that this trend's strength and long-term sustainability would largely depend on various factors, including the conditions of accommodation, particularly the reasonable pricing policies of Turkish travel agencies and hotel operators, as well as the security provided by local authorities and financial conditions.
Assessing the 2024 season for Russian tourists, Yerhov stated, "The season has indeed begun, and many of our tourists are flocking to the southern provinces of Türkiye. Preliminary statistics for the first three months of this year are already available. These figures give idea about the volumes: According to reports in the press, the number of foreign tourists visiting Antalya increased by 25% compared to the same period of last year. Russians, as has become customary, are among the top ranks with 172 thousand visitors, accounting for approximately 20% of all foreign arrivals to Türkiye. Figures in Muğla province are more modest, but the trends are no less positive. Therefore, there is every reason to expect that the total number of Russian tourists by the end of 2024 will exceed last year's figure of 6.3 million."
