In April 2024, the number of visitors to Spain increased by 8.3% compared to the same month in the previous year, reaching 7.8 million. The largest number of tourists in April came from the United Kingdom, with 1,464,000 visitors. This was followed by France with 1,158,000 visitors, Germany with 1,136,000 visitors, Italy with 457,000 visitors, and the Netherlands with 391,000 visitors.
Nearly 24 million visitors in the first four months
During the four-month period from January to April, the number of visitors to Spain rose by 14.5% compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 23,956,000. The traditional leading source market for Spain was the United Kingdom with 4,438,000 visitors. This was followed by Germany with 3,188,000 visitors, France with 3,141,000 visitors, Italy with 1,422,000 visitors, and the Netherlands with 1,122,000 visitors. The number of visitors to Spain from the Scandinavian countries of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden during the first four months was recorded at 1,610,000.
Surpassing 2019 by 11%
With these figures, Spain surpassed its best tourism year of 2019 by 11.35% for the same period. In the first four months of 2019, Spain hosted 21.4 million visitors.
