The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Ersoy, announced the first quarter data regarding museums and archaeological sites on his social media accounts.

Minister Ersoy reminded that museums and archaeological sites would continue to welcome visitors during the Ramadan Feast and made the following statement:

"Is your Museum Pass ready?

More than 300 museums and archaeological sites affiliated with our Ministry, as well as museums under the Presidency of National Palaces, are waiting for you during the #RamadanFeast.

In the first three months of 2024, we have hosted nearly 4 million visitors at our museums and archaeological sites.

The most visited museums and sites in our country during this period are as follows:

1- Konya Mevlana Museum
2- Denizli Hierapolis (Pamukkale) Archaeological Site
3- İzmir Ephesus Archaeological Site
4- Nevşehir Göreme Open-Air Museum
5- Nevşehir Zelve-Paşabağları Open-Air Museum
6- Ankara Republic Museum
7- İstanbul Archaeology Museum
8- İstanbul Galata Tower
9- Şanlıurfa Göbeklitepe Archaeological Site
10- Nevşehir Kaymaklı Underground City

Konya Mevlana Museum takes the lead

Last year, museums and archaeological sites welcomed approximately 30.5 million visitors, while in the first three months of this year, they hosted 3,886,998 visitors.

With 383,392 visitors in three months, Konya Mevlana Museum was the most visited museum.

Denizli Hierapolis (Pamukkale) Archaeological Site followed with 259,025 visitors, and İzmir Ephesus Archaeological Site was third with 249,482 visitors.

The list of the most visited museums and sites in the first three months also includes İzmir Ephesus Archaeological Site with 249,482 visitors and Nevşehir Göreme Open-Air Museum with 149,023 visitors.

Nevşehir Zelve-Paşabağları Open-Air Museum was fifth, followed by Ankara Republic Museum, İstanbul Archaeology Museum, İstanbul Galata Tower, Şanlıurfa Göbeklitepe Archaeological Site, and Nevşehir Kaymaklı Underground City in the list of most visited locations.

Record sales of Museum Passes

The sales of Museum Passes, which Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Ersoy priced at 60 Turkish Lira to facilitate access to historical and cultural wealth, continued to record increases.

The Museum Pass, valid in more than 300 museums and archaeological sites affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and museums under the Presidency of National Palaces, reached sales of 701,162 in the first three months of 2024.

Compared to the same month of the previous year, sales in January of this year increased by 7% to 217,033. The increase in February was 122% compared to the same month of the previous year, with 245,010 Museum Passes sold. Last March also saw a 77% increase in sales, reaching 239,119.
