Özdere / İzmir — Bentour Reisen hosted more than 250 travel agencies from Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the Netherlands at the Sunis Efes Royal Palace Resort & Spa, sharing the company’s 2025 results and 2026 growth targets.
During a press meeting, Chairman Kadir Uğur and CEO Deniz Uğur made striking remarks on the rising costs in Türkiye’s hospitality sector and the sustainability of the ultra all-inclusive model.
“Türkiye is perceived as expensive — we must fix that”
Deniz Uğur warned that European markets now view Türkiye as a costly destination: “In Europe, there’s an emerging perception that Türkiye is expensive. We can deny it, but that wouldn’t be right. We must first understand the problem, then solve it. We’re currently discussing this with hoteliers.”
“Ultra all-inclusive is socialism”
Calling the all-inclusive model “a beautiful concept,” Uğur argued that the “ultra” version creates unfair cost distribution:
“One family might drink a single beer and a glass of wine at dinner, while another guest drinks gin and tonics all day and wastes plates of food. When total costs are shared equally, that’s socialism. Why should a modest family subsidize others’ over-consumption?”
He praised hotels introducing smart card systems—like Gloria Hotels—where guests pay separately for premium drinks:
“At Gloria, if you want a gin and tonic, you can have it—but you pay for it. That’s fair.”
Uğur compared pricing logic to buying a Mercedes:
“If the base model costs 100 euro, every extra adds to the price. All-inclusive packages should work the same way.”
