Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy visited Antalya Airport to inspect the newly inaugurated terminal building, which was officially opened by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in recent days.
Highlighting that Antalya reached its highest-ever number of tourists in previous years, Minister Ersoy stated:
"In Antalya, the capital of tourism where each year has been marked by record-breaking figures, our goal for 2025 is to welcome 18 million international visitors. We are entering the new season with strong preparation and are working intensively to ensure 2025 is another record-breaking year for the city."
Ersoy emphasized that Antalya Airport is not merely a transportation hub but a crucial gateway that plays a strategic role in showcasing Turkey’s tourism potential to the world.
"With its modern infrastructure and expanded capacity, the airport is now fully equipped to provide a first-class welcome to our guests. We remain committed to maintaining our success in tourism and ensuring that Turkey retains its position at the forefront of global tourism," he added.
Airport capacity more than doubled to 82 million
Antalya Airport, which had already been operating 12% above its official capacity, has seen its total capacity expanded from 35 million to 82 million passengers annually, thanks to the new terminal project.
As part of the development, the international terminal space was expanded from 90,143 square meters to 224,000 square meters, while the domestic terminal grew from 36,859 square meters to 75,000 square meters—significantly boosting operational capabilities ahead of the high tourist season.
